Before the session

The session begins with conversation. You can share what brings you in, areas that feel tense or sensitive, medical or mobility considerations that affect comfort, and any touch you do or do not want. You do not need to explain your entire history.

Clothing, draping, positioning, pressure, and possible techniques should be discussed before bodywork begins. Consent is ongoing, which means you can ask to pause, change position, reduce pressure, or stop at any time.

During the bodywork

The practitioner may use sustained contact, gentle movement, supportive positioning, craniosacral-informed stillness, breath awareness, or quiet periods of rest. You might be invited to notice temperature, tension, breath, or the impulse to move, but there is no correct response.

A session does not need to be intense or emotionally expressive to be meaningful. Release may be as simple as a deeper breath, softened muscle tone, or a clearer sense of being present in your body.

After the session

Time at the end helps you transition before returning to the rest of the day. You may talk briefly about what you noticed and identify simple aftercare such as hydration, a meal, gentle walking, journaling, or a quieter evening.

Somatic bodywork is complementary wellness care. It does not replace medical evaluation, physical therapy, psychotherapy, medication, or emergency support.
